Our Church Family: Odette Oliver is now back at home after her procedure a couple of weeks ago. Andy Jongenotter is improving but remains at Trenton Hospital. Nellie Vos received specialized treatment for pain this past Thursday. Please keep her and Andy in your prayers. Congratulations to Dineke VanRoon as she celebrates her 83rd birthday today. Congratulations also to Brad & Odette Oliver as they celebrate their 30th Anniversary on Thursday. Please keep students and teachers in your prayers as they return to school this week. Shelley Schamehorn is on holidays until Sept. 4, Mike Mathewson is on holidays until Sept. 12.

Kids Up: This morning there is no Kids Up! The Care Corner is closed as well, but the infant and toddler rooms are open for parents to use for their children, but you are responsible for your own children. Regular Kids Up (K-Grade 5) will begin next Sunday, Sept. 10. Any questions, please talk to Sarah Riemersma.

Soul Perch: Nathasha Roblin will be in the foyer after the service with her book entitled “Soul Perch”, a collection of poems that she has written. Copies are available for a donation of $15.

Volunteers Needed: This is your opportunity to get more involved in the day to day operation of keeping our church community running smoothly. If you can spare an hour per week or just once a month, please talk to Hans Devries. There is also an immediate need for a short term paid position, if you are interested call Hans at 613-392-3133.

Thank You: I would like to thank everyone who has prayed at any time for me to find a seniors place to live. One opened up at Aldersgate Village and I will be moving for Nov. 1. Thank you all again! Youth Car Wash: The Youth will be having a car wash to raise money for their year-end trip. See the insert in the bulletin for more details. Also there is an insert in the bulletin with details for the start-up of youth.

Maranatha Seniors: Our first meeting of the season will be  a potluck on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 12 noon. Bring your favourite dish, hot or cold, your own dishes and cutlery. We will play games so bring your favourite board game. Any questions, talk to Grace Doornbos. Our October bus trip will be on Thursday, Oct 4 to Rockport where we will go on a boat dinner cruise. The cost will be $55/person. There are a few spots left so if you are 65 or older and would like to go, call Greta Heuving at 613-395-3214.

GriefShare is a support ministry for those challenged with the death of a loved one. Excellent videos featuring experienced grief counsellors and people sharing experiences of their grief journey. Pioneer Club will be ministering to children, JK – grade 6, again this year, starting Wednesday, Sept. 20. Club will run from 6–7:30pm each Wednesday night. We are looking for adults and teens to serve on this ministry team. This ministry provides a great opportunity for teens to receive community service hours. If you are interested and have attended Maranatha for at least 6 months, please contact Linda Wattam, 613-848-7083.

Sponsor Children for Pioneer Club: Some families find it difficult to pay the $50 registration fee for their child to attend Pioneer Club. Would you consider giving a donation towards the fees that could be offered to these families? Please make the cheques out to Maranatha Church and on the memo line put Pioneer Club and place them in the offering plate or take them to the Pioneer Club table in the foyer.

Retirement: A number of events are being planned to celebrate Pastor John and Michelle as he retires the end of November this year. Set aside the last weekend of November – a program is planned for Saturday night, Nov. 25 (for adults) and a special worship service for Sunday morning, Nov. 26 (for everyone, including children).
