This Morning we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. All who have publicly confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and are seeking to live out that commitment in repentance and faith are warmly invited to join in our celebration.

Offerings: Each week we hold an offering for a cause and for budget. This week the offering is for Tuition Assistance and next Sunday, March 13 the offering will be for Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Feb 27 Giving: Total: $261,705.42; Budget: $260,690.17, Building: $395.50, UCB Canada: $419.75, Benevolence Fund: $200.00.

The Journey, A New Series of Messages: This morning, we start a new series of messages. called The Journey, the series will focus on our walk of faith through this world to the next and will be tied loosely to the book The Pilgrim’s Progress. The children will be following a parallel curriculum on Sunday mornings, exploring the same themes as the adults each week.  How can you make the most of this series personally and as a family? Here are several ideas:

Read The Pilgrims Progress:  Purchase a print, electronic, or audio version.  (We recommend the modern English version revised by Alan Vermilye.)

Purchase copies of The Little Pilgrim’s Progress for $10 to read with your children, and pick up the Take it Home curriculum prepared by our Children’s Director, Shelley Schamehorn. (Visit the Information Centre in the foyer after the service to get these materials.)
Watch the animated Pilgrim’s Progress film with your kids. It is available on Right Now Media and can be accessed free by any Maranatha community member. Contact Nancy in the church office to register for the service.

Time Change: Next Saturday, March 12 the clocks spring ahead an hour. Remember to set your clocks ahead before you go to bed on Saturday night.

Council Elections: Council is working on nominations for elders and deacons and invites the congregation to submit names of people they believe would be qualified to serve. Names should be submitted in writing to the church office no later than Monday March 14 at 5pm. Submissions should be addressed to Fran Dunford, clerk of council and signed by the person putting names forward for consideration. Elders and deacons should be Christians of mature faith and character, full of the Holy Spirit, with gifts of leadership, wisdom and discernment. Elders should also have gifts such as faith, prayer, teaching and evangelism while deacons should have gifts such as service, mercy and encouragement, (See 1 Tim. 3-1-13 and Titus 1:6-9 for the biblical criteria). To be considered, people must be confessing members who are committed to the vision and mission of Maranatha and have demonstrated their maturity and gifts in ministry.

Protocols: As you know, on March 1 capacity limits were lifted in all indoor public settings, so we have begun replacing the seats in the auditorium. If you are uncomfortable having someone sitting right next to you, just place your jacket on the seat next to you. As a reminder, masks are still required in all public spaces until the mandate is lifted.
