Catherine Stoter is at BGH and is not expected to live much longer. We praise God that she is at peace and feels the Lord’s nearness. The family is so very thankful for the meal train and those who helped them move. Please continue to keep Catherine and husband Frank in your prayers.
Karin Bouma’s mother, Ada Roeper, passed away Sat, Oct 1st.This past Wed, a private, family funeral was held for her. We
extend our sincere condolences to Karin, Fred & family. (Ada is also the mother of John Roeper, a former music director here at Maranatha.)
Please continue to hold Laurie Wood, Glen Arendt, Marten VanderWal, Eve Kugel, Andy Jongenotter, Rick Foulds, and our shut ins in your prayers as well.
While we grieve with those who grieve, we also rejoice with those who rejoice—Grace Doornbos turns 87 on Saturday!

It’s Almost That Time Again! Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for churches to bless struggling children in the developing world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Boxes are collected and distributed in the name of Jesus to children living in desperate situations, who are then invited to attend The Greatest Journey—our follow-up discipleship program taught by local churches. Our shoeboxes will be arriving shortly. Stay tuned for more details.
Bulletin Announcements: Please submit all items for the bulletin to the office—either in person or by email—by noon on Thursdays to
ensure inclusion their in the bulletin (info@maranatha-church.com).
A Month of Prayer for Our Church: We are excited to launch a church-wide prayer initiative to pray together for our church every day for the month of October. There are yellow prayer guides available at the Info Desk in the foyer (and on our website) with Scripture-based prayer points for each day from October 1st—31st. We encourage everyone to join in this time of focused, united prayer for God’s Kingdom to be advanced and His empowerment, anointing and breakthrough to be released in all areas of our church life and mission—as we humble ourselves and seek His face! Mark your calendars for a church-wide prayer meeting on Wed, Oct 19th to pray through the building as well.
Calling all Creatives! Do you have a passion for the ‘arts’ and a vision to see more creative expression in the church? Do you have talents in certain areas that you’d like to bring to the table? We are hosting a brainstorming meeting to hear from the artists in our congregation to get your input and to see what God may be percolating in our church for the next season(s). Whatever form art takes for you, we’d love to hear from you. Join us Wed, Oct 26th at 7pm in the Chapel (back door). Contact Adam or Deborah for more information.
Thrift Store: This week, orange stickers & tags are just $1.00. Oct 14th is 50% off day. Cooler weather is upon us...come in for a comfy sweater, long johns, pants, jackets or a blanket or two. You can also start your Christmas shopping!
Friendship Circle: You had a taste of worshipping with Friendship a few Sundays ago (check out the Sun, Sep 25th service online). We need more people to serve as friends and mentors. We meet most Monday nights (but not this coming Mon) from 7—8:15pm . Come and visit us in the chapel on a Monday night to see if this is a ministry for you, or just to see what it is like. There is no pressure to commit—we love having visitors! Call or email Pat Plewman if you need more information.
Walking Group: Lace up your walking shoes and join the indoor walking group in the Youth Hall Mondays and Wednesdays at 1pm starting next Wed, Oct 12th . Contact Frances Dunford for more information.
