Our Church Family: Congratulations to Johanna DeVries as she celebrates her 82nd birthday on Saturday, belated birthday wishes to Annie Burghgraef who celebrated her 82nd birthday on August 10. Matilda Wiarda is awaiting a heart procedure.  Her condition is serious enough to warrant surgery but she has been put on a long waiting list because of the backlog at the hospital.  Please pray that our merciful God would give Matilda peace and open a door for the procedure to move ahead. Please keep Matilda and her family in your prayers. Please remember Lucy Steiginga, Glen Arendt, Marten VanderWal, Eve Kugel, Andy Jongenotter, and Rick Foulds in your prayers and our shut ins.

Sarah Prins will be making her Profession of Faith today.  We are thankful for Sarah’s decision to take this faith step, and for God’s wonderful plan for her and for the church that is reflected in this occasion.

Offerings: Each week we hold an offering for a cause and for budget. This week the offering is for World Renew, next Sunday, September 11 the offering will be for Tuition Assistance.

This Morning we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. All who have publicly confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and are seeking to live out that commitment in repentance and faith are warmly invited to join in our celebration.

Next Sunday: Sept. 11, will be our kick-off Sunday for  the new church year.  At that service, Pastor Mike will be officially installed as our Pastor of Discipleship.

Drop-In Prayer: Mid-day prayer groups will resume every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30am-1:30pm, starting this week on Sept. 6. All are welcome! Drop in with a personal prayer request and/or join in prayer and worship with others to seek God’s face, intercede for our church, and hear what He is saying in our own lives. Nothing unites God’s people like praying together! If you feel lonely, burdened, or disconnected, or need encouragement in your relationships, work, or faith journey, please join us at any time… you will be blessed! Navigating Everything Parenting Seminar will be held here at Maranatha on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7pm. We will have Brett Ullman as our guest speaker. Coffee Teams: Your assistance is greatly appreciated and required by our coffee team! If you have the gift of serving, and are able to help us out with the coffee ministry team, please let us know. We are hoping to have an 8 week rotation, but it will depend on how many persons would offer their services, for making coffee, setting up the morning coffee, clean up and dishwasher services, as well as serve the coffee. We would love it if you would also be able to bake for the church community, once in a while. Ann Jansen, or Judy Edgar would love to hear from you. Contacting the front office would also be an option.

GriefShare: Grieving the death of a loved one can be a very daunting and painful experience. GriefShare can offer support. The 13-session program consists of videos featuring experienced grief counsellors and people sharing their grief journeys, a workbook and time for discussion and sharing. We will be running two groups a week on Monday morings and Thursday evenings. The Monday group wil start Sept. 12 from 10-12 noon. The Thursday group will start Sept. 15 from 7-9 pm. If we don't have enough registrations for Thursday evening, we will move the group to Thursday morning, 9-12 noon, with the same Sept. 15 start date. Space is limited. GriefShare Facilitators Urgently Needed: We need male and female facilitators for our sessions starting in September, in particular for the Thursday evening group. We are looking for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one and have come to a place of healing and have a desire to help others navigate the grief journey. Training videos are available and new facilitators will work with more experienced facilitators. GriefShare is not only for our congregation, but is an outreach to the broader community. Thrift Store: All green stickers/tags are $1 each this week. We will be having a Family Fun Day on Sat. Sept. 10 with lots of sales, games and fresh corn. For more information call the store 613-967-1371.

Annual QCHS Eagle Run/Walk: We are so excited to invite you to participate in the family fun Eagle Run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 17. There is a 2k fun run/walk as well as 5k and 10k runs. The event will be run in the Quinte Conservation Area across from the school. The cost is a $20 for participants, $10 for children 12 and under, or $60 per family (parents and children under 18). Registration begins at 7:30am, with the races starting at 8am. All participants will receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. To ensure a shirt that will fit, please respond by e-mail to by Sept. 12 with your name(s) and size(s) of shirt. Shirts come in adult and youth sizes. Registration is available on the day of the event.

QCHS Back to School Breakfast: Saturday, Sept. 17, beginning at 8:15am following the Eagle Run, is the back to school breakfast. The breakfast is for all of the community to come together for a time of fellowship at the beginning of the school year. So why not begin your day with a walk/run in the park, enjoy God’s creation and then enjoy the company of family and friends at the breakfast? Everyone is welcome to come to the breakfast even if you don’t go on the Eagle Run. The breakfast is FREE!
