God Moving At Maranatha

Come Wind, Come Fire
This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost. We are recalling the momentous event which Luke describes in these words:
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:2-4)
On that day almost 2000 years ago, the Spirit came with wind and fire. That wind continues to blow. That fire continues to spread. God extends His hand to us, inviting us to join Him in the divine drama of salvation which He is unfolding throughout the world.
I see that wind blowing and that fire burning in Maranatha Church. It is evidenced in the many new prayer groups that have formed and the greater intensity in prayer many are experiencing. It is seen in the increasing warmth of fellowship we are experiencing post COVID. It is demonstrated in the growing number of people stepping up to serve in the church. It is on display in the vibrancy of our ministries and in the devotion of the gifted staff God has called to serve at Maranatha. I see it in many other areas of our church each day.
Let our prayer as a church be: “Come wind and come fire. Holy Spirit continue to lead us and guide us, mold us and shape us. Make us a community of love and power. Move through us to spread the love and Good News of Jesus throughout our area and around the world.” --Pastor Tom
