God Moving At Maranatha

Growing Leadership
Week by week at Maranatha, hundreds of us gather to worship, study, pray, find support, experience friendship, and serve. This could not happen without capable leadership helping to organize our efforts. That is why I am so grateful for our church’s many ministry leaders.
This coming week, for the first time in recent memory, we are calling all of our ministry leaders together for a meeting. We will share a dessert, spend time getting to know one another, talk about what is happening in our ministries, and explore ways to mutually support one another’s efforts. We hope meetings like this will become a regular part of our experience together.
I am very excited about what we are beginning here. I have seen how these meetings can encourage leaders and greatly increase the church’s overall impact as the various ministries become more focused and streamlined.
I am also very excited about the people I am meeting with. My experience of each of our ministry leaders is that they are passionate, committed to Christ, and devoted to the people they serve. They want to see Maranatha thrive, and they give selflessly of their time and energy to make it happen.
The Bible tells us that it is as we each faithfully use our gifts to build each other up that we become the church that God wants us to be. Our ministry leaders are playing their part and are an example to us of what Paul meant when he said: “From [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:16).
Our prayer is that meetings like this will help our current ministry leaders grow in their giftedness and effectiveness. We pray also that other people will sense God’s call to develop their gifts and step out into places of leadership.
