PARTNERING WITH YOU AS A STAFF

Our church staff met for most of the day Tuesday to prepare for the new church year. This is what we did. I hope reading about it will help you feel the same excitement we are all feeling as start this new year of ministry.

We prayed: We split up into two groups to travel through the church. Each group prayed for our church’s members and ministries as suggested by the locations we visited. As a staff we are committed to prayer, because we believe that God can do truly great things through our church as we look to him for guidance and strength.

We planned: Each staff shared their ministry goals with the group. Thegroup, in turn, gave feedback and encouragement. We coordinated our efforts and emerged feeling that our ministries are on track with God’s vision for our church.

We laughed: To celebrate my 65 th birthday, the staff declared it “Tom Day”. Each staff came to the meeting dressed like me! They wore an untucked shirt, jeans and brown leather shoes (some with ear buds around their necks or a tea cup in hand) which is my typical look on any given day. Spontaneous laugher would break out in the middle of discussions as a result. If “the joy of the Lord is our strength,” God put a lot of fuel in our tanks that day.

We committed: We knelt together and committed to our staff covenant. We want to be a “little church”—a small an example of what we want the whole church to be. Our covenant is an expression of our commitment to this goal.

As a staff we are committed to serving God and the church. We are excited about being on this journey with you.  Pastor Tom
